Ernest J. Olivares
Ernest Jay Olivares, 65, of Hamilton Lakes, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6 at his home with his wife, Sheila, at his side.
Born in Detroit, Dec. 26, 1948, to Ernest and Mary (Brennan) Olivares, he was the oldest of seven children and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northern. He then received a Juris Doctor Degree from Wayne State University in 1975.
While in law school, he met Sheila Scrafano and they married May 10, 1975 in St. Clair Shores. They were happily married for 39 years. The couple relocated to Norway, Mi. in 1977 where he served the Norway community as city attorney and also opened his private law practice in 1977.
In his free time, he enjoyed playing the drums, which is how he made his way through college and spent his weekends. He also played basketball with his son, Justin, who meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; a son, Justin (Beth) Olivares; six brothers and sisters, Larry (Darlene), Keith (Brenda), Mark (Carol), Theresa, Frannie (Victor) and John (Amy).
Visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 3 p.m. at Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. Interment was held at the Norway Township Cemetery.
