THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Old Toys Topic at Loomis Days
The Loomis Historical Society will host Loomis Days on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 12:30 p.m. at the Town of Lake Hall. All present and former residents of the Loomis area are invited to attend the potluck picnic. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own tableware. Coffee and other beverages will be provided.
Following the dinner, Dave Retzlaff of Oconto will present a program on the Stanley Toy Company. He has authored a book entitled, The Stanley Toy Story: Fame to Fire. The Stanley Toy Company began production of cast-iron and cast-aluminum toys in 1946 and became a leading toy manufacturer until a fire destroyed the building in 1949. Retzlaff has done extensive research on all aspects of the places and people involved with this story. Due to the short time these toys were manufactured, they have become highly sought after by collectors.
Since the topic of the program is old toys, people attending are asked to bring toys from their childhood, possibly even Stanley Toys, which can be displayed.
