Dorothy J. Van Straten
Dorothy Jane Van Straten, 85, of Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27 at a Green Bay hospital.
Born in Green Bay, Oct. 28, 1928, to Winfred and Alma (Heim) Van Rens, she married Clarence Dutch Van Straten on Oct. 4, 1947 and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1998. She was a school bus driver for Laidlaw primarily the bus to Ann Sullivan Elementary, for over 42 years.
A lifetime member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, she volunteered for many years as a lay communion distributor and enjoyed times spent up north with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Stacy) Van Straten, of Crivitz, Tim (Janice) Van Straten, of Green Bay and Mark (Michelle) Van Straten, of Forestville; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Van Straten, of Green Bay; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita Banta, of Green Bay; other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Gary Van Straten and a brother-in-law, Merrill Banta .
Visitation will be at Malcore East Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Green Bay, on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 9 a.m. until the time of a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Rev. Anthony Cirignani, OFM will officiate with entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
