To the Editor:

Regarding the letter you published in the Dec. 7, 2011 edition from the old Brazeau Town Clerk, Pam Duddek, apparently she still has trouble working with numbers and understanding state statutes. I also see that days of the week are a challenge to her as well. The 15th of December falls on a Thursday, not a Tuesday.

Until Dec. 31, 2011, the present Board is confined to the budget that the previous Board had adopted. Wis. State Statute §60.40 (4). Starting on January 1, 2012 will be the budget that I and the other Board members will have adopted.

Want to talk about budget reductions? A summary of the 2012 budget that we proposed is found on page B-7 of the 12/07/11 edition. The proposed 2012 budget is lower than the 2011 adopted budget by 6%. It is lower than the 2010 adopted budget by 8%. It is also lower than the 2009, 2008 and 2007 adopted budgets as well. In fact, you have to go back to 2006 to find a budget comparable to the 2012 proposed budget.

Another area that seems to be ruffling the old clerk’s feathers is the Board expenses. Let’s talk about Board salary, organization fees, milage and expenses. In 2010 the former Board incurred $26,104 in expenditures. (Source: 2012 Budget Expenditure Worksheet) The end of year expenses that were incurred in 2011 are projected to be about $25,500 or $600 less than the former Board’s. In addition, approximately $8,700 of the 2011 Board expenses were incurred by the former Board, before leaving office.

It’s too bad the old Clerk wasn’t squawking when the old Chairperson and her tried squirreling away $268,000 of the taxpayers dollars last year.

Another point that needs to be made is the fact that the present Board not only incurred $8,700 less in Board expenses than that of the former Board but we also accomplished three times as much road work being done on our Town roads. In 2010 the former Board incurred over $26,000 in Board expenses and spent $179,309 on road construction. Approximately 1/3 of that amount was wasted on the “road to nowhere,” a.k.a. Tank Lane.

In 2011 the present Board spent approximately $515,000 on road construction and incurred less than $17,000 in total Board expenses.

I have got an update for the old Clerk, the election is over and your candidates lost. Get over it. You need to stop with your dirty policies, false accusations and frivolous attempts at misleading the public and start focusing on your retirement and you’ll be a much happier person.

Supervisor

Letter to Editor:

I recently read two articles in the Dec. 7 Peshtigo Times regarding the budget hearing for the Town of Brazeau, along with a letter that Pam Duddek wrote. I have to ask, does anyone check the facts before publishing an article? There is no $14,000 cut in the Fire Department budget being proposed and there never was.

This Board held a budget hearing back on Nov. 29, 2011. The 2012 summary budget that is posted in the paper is no different than the one that was presented on Nov. 29. What’s the reason for having another budget hearing about something that has already been stated?

Furthermore, the 2012 budget was not rejected as stated in the paper. The reason for the delay or the persons directly responsible for causing the delay are David Rakowski and Carl Porior. It was Rakowski, during the Special Meeting of the electors that was held immediately after the budget hearing, who made the motion to postpone and to have another Special Meeting of the electors and it was Carl Porior who seconded it.

If you don’t get your tax bills before the end of the year you can blame these two individuals plus the other 11 who sided with them. Rakowski and Porior’s motion was improper and nothing more than a cheap stunt to cause disruption in the Town and Wendt should have known better than to allow them to get away with it.

The tax levy was already approved at the annual meeting. This will be the third meeting being held to approve something that has already been approved.

Regarding the letter from Pam Duddek, as a resident of Brazeau and knowing her, she is the last person qualified to update the Town on anything.

She constantly twists the truth and purposely omits the facts. For example, Duddek tries to take issue that Supervisor Enix and Supervisor Hanna should have rode together when they attended the Fall budget and Financial Workshop that was held this past September.

Duddek used to be a public official and she knows that the Wisconsin Open Meeting laws prohibits Board members from traveling together when it constitutes a quorum.

The question that needs to be asked is what did Ryan Wendt put down for mileage to attend that training or didn’t Wendt think that the training was necessary?

If Wendt would have attended the Budget workshop, maybe then he would know how to conduct a budget hearing and this entire mess that David Rakowski and Carl Porior caused at the Nov. 29 Special Meeting of the electors would have been avoided.

I hope that Wendt comes to realize that the business of the Town comes first and all that Rakowski, Porior and Duddek are interested in is tearing the Town apart and to place all the blame on him.

Holy Family - Real Meaning

Joseph and Mary kneel in prayer

Close to their Baby lying there.

The kings approach with gifts of gold

To pay homage to their Son,

as we have been told.

They followed the stars to find their way

To Bethlehem where He laid in the hay.

Peace and love fill those who believe

As we worship this Child every

Christmas Eve.
