From our readers To the Editor:
Im writing this letter to clarify statements that are being made in the city on different issues. But first, I am going to back up and start from the beginning.
My husband Carl and I chose to live in Peshtigo to raise our children, as we liked everything the city had to offer and we still do. I am not a politician but four years ago I decided to run for Alderman for the City of Peshtigo.
Tom Strouf was the Mayor and he approached me and asked me what my agenda was for running for Alderman. I was taken aback and a little insulted that he thought I had a personal agenda. I did reply and said to make improvements as our city was looking worn and needed renovating. I wanted to make a difference in our community.
Last year the water tower on the north end of the city was repainted with the addition of a mural of trees and water. Prior to the completion, no one had talked to me for or against, unless we were discussing it at a Council meeting. I supported the painting 100%. One morning on my way home from work I stopped at the gas station by the water tower. Dan Messenger was there and asked if he could ask me a question. I said sure, go ahead. His question, Do you realize the only people who are going to see this water tower are from Peshtigo? You can see it from the highway but my response was, Arent the people of Peshtigo worth looking at something nice? I think we are. I know it was additional funding but to me it sends a message, we take pride in our city and I am very proud of the City of Peshtigo.
Over the past three years I have been fortunate to have obtained several grants for the city at NO expense to taxpayers. With the WI DOT Transportation Enhancement Grant renovations will cover from the bridge through the intersection by Dairy Queen. The Department of Transportation will resurface from one end of the city to the other. This grant will replace all sidewalks with brick or stamped concrete, curbs, gutters, trees and lighting. Through TIF funding we will also make these same renovations on Oconto Ave. to the Fire Museum.
I want to set the record straight. It was not the Mayors idea to purchase the parking lot across from city hall. I approached the Mayor about the possibility of purchasing the parking lot across from city hall and blacktopping it. It only made sense as we are renovating the road and sidewalks on both sides of the parking lot. There was a tie between Aldermen. Voting yes were Behnke, England and Malke. Voting no were Lock, Meintz and Colburn. Mayor Krizenesky broke the tie and voted to support the purchase.
Yes, we do have an ordinance about businesses blacktopping their parking lots, but if you cant afford it, it would be like getting water out of a rock. Yes, the owner had a stipulation that the renters could park there. I dont like purchasing something with a stipulation but I had to do what I felt was in the best interests of the city. How could we leave a mud hole in the middle of our downtown? Besides paving the parking lot, we will have a beautification site towards the stop lights.
We did use TIF funding for our Transportation Enhance-ment Grant share. The grant was 80/20 and the grant awarded is $750,000, with our share being $150,000. We have waited a long time for these renovations. It has been an uphill battle with some of our projects but this summer they will become a reality. We have been fortunate to have Alderman Meintz volunteer his engineering expertise.
I wrote this letter because I do support Mayor Krizenesky for another term for Mayor for the City of Peshtigo. I have worked for the past two years with Mayor Krizenesky and he has worked hard to make Peshtigo a better place to live, bring new business into the city and try to help existing businesses prosper. He has tried to improve the working environment at city hall for all employees and citizens. He treats everyone equal and does not do favors for his friends or family.
We have worked extremely hard these past two years. Keep Mayor Krizenesky working for you to make Peshtigo a better place to live and become a destination for visitors to the city. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to call. Please contact city hall for my phone number. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and please be sure to vote.

Chairman Parks & Recreation
Chairman Streets & Drainage
Letter to the Editor:
Taxpayers of the Town of Brazeau Beware! The big spenders are back. After two failed attempts to get their community building approved at the ballot box, they are trying again. They are trying a Recall Election, hoping that with the usual small turnout at Special Elections they will get their friends elected.
Lets review the reasons given for the recall:
1. Poor fiscal management through large overruns of the budget for road construction.
In 2009, the David Rakowski Board, along with the Town of Pound Board, started the Lentz Road Project. Because of many delays and areas of poor soil conditions, this project continued into 2011 with excessive cost overruns.
In 2009, David Rakowski started the Tank Lane Project. He did not apply for the proper permits until well into the project. He was forced to develop a plan and apply for the permits after the fact. This resulted in substantial cost overruns, and the project being continued into 2011.
The 2011 budget was developed by the David Rakowski Board on 11-8-10. Because of the delay in these two road projects, there was over $250,000 remaining at the end of the year. This amount was not properly credited to the 2010 projects when they were paid for in 2011.
On April 11, 2011, at 8:18 p.m., four hours before the of their term in office, the David Rakowski Board transferred $200,000 to be held separately from town checking and money market accounts, and shall be managed by the town clerk to be used for a building fund.
On April 19, 2011, the Ryan Wendt Board rescinded the motion of April 11, and placed the $200,000 back in the general fund.
There does appear to have been mismanagement, but not by Darrell Enix or James Hanna.
Apparently reasons given for a recall do not have to be verified by anyone.
I wonder where these Concerned Citizens were when David Rakowski continued his attempt to take private property from a taxpayer even after the DNR SAID THEY WOULD NOT APPROVE THE PARCEL for a boat landing?
Where were they when the former town clerk falsely charged a businessman with physical assault?
These issues seem much more important than second guessing a budget account.
2. Efforts to restrict citizen input in town government.
Town Board meetings are for the purpose of discussing legitimate town business and not for a soapbox to make political speeches. Immediately following the last election, David Rakowski and Pam Duddek were determined to disrupt each meeting to the point that the board felt it necessary to pass the following Rules of Conduct:
1. Public participation at meetings of the Town Board of Brazeau shall be limited to the regular monthly Town Board meeting provided that public comments, has been set forth in a Public Notice.
2. Public comments shall be limited to three minutes per person. An individuals time may not be given or traded to other speakers or reserved for other portions of the meeting.
3. A designated member of the Town Board or a designated officer of the Town shall act as timekeeper.
4. Any individual wishing to speak at a regular monthly Town of Brazeau meeting during the period of public comments must sign in on the Public Comment sheets provided, upon entering the meeting room. The Public Comments sheet will be used by the members of the Town Board of Brazeau to recognize each individual speaker.
5. Individuals wishing to speak during the period of Public Comments, upon being recognized by the Town Board of Brazeau, must state their name and the subject matter they wish to address.
6. Comments must relate to legitimate town business.
7. Comments shall be addressed to the Town Board of Brazeau as a whole and not to any single member thereof, unless in response to a question from such member.
8. The use of profane, vulgar, inflammatory, threatening, slanderous, impertinent, abusive or disparaging language or racial or ethnic slurs directed at members of the Town Board, Town Officials or the general public, at any time, by anyone in attendance shall, at the discretion of the majority of the Board, be barred from further audience before the Board during that meeting.
9. Anyone in attendance who makes such remarks, or who utters loud, threatening, personal or abusive language, or engages in any other disorderly conduct which disrupts, or otherwise impedes the orderly conduct of any Board meeting, shall at the discretion of the majority of the Board, be barred from further audience before the Board during that meeting.
10. Anyone in attendance who attempts to utilize a Town Board meeting for the purpose of making political speeches, threats of political action, slanderous statements or any personal attacks against any members of the Town Board, Town Officials or the general public, at any time, shall, at the discretion of the majority of the Board, be barred from further audience before the Board during that meeting.
11. Discussions between speakers and attendees during a Town Board meeting are prohibited. A speaker may disagree with or support prior speakers provided that their comments are directed to the Town Board.
12. Banners, flyers or other signs are not permitted in the meeting room. Distribution of flyers or other materials by the general public to attendees during a meeting of the Town Board is not permitted.
13. The Chairperson or the presiding officer shall enforce the rules set forth above. If the Chairperson or the presiding officer fails to enforce the rules set forth above, any member of the Town Board may move to require the Chairperson or presiding officer to do so, and an affirmative vote of a majority of the Town Board shall require him or her to do so.
15. Anyone in attendance who has violated these rules and refuses to withdraw or who disregards the directives of the Chairperson or the presiding officer in enforcing the rules during a Town Board meeting will be removed and charged under Wisconsin State Law, Chapter 947, Crimes Against Public Peace, Order and Other Interests.
16. The above rules shall take effect at the next meeting of the Town Board after the adoption of the set Rules of Conduct and Decorum.
I defy anyone to find in these rules where comments and feedback about legitimate town business is suppressed.
Gale Wogsland,
Concerned Taxpayer,
Town of Brazeau
To the Editor:
Last Thursday evening I experienced what any person on a stage fears the most; I collapsed. After a series of tests over the weekend it was determined that I had a potassium deficiency and elevated blood pressure. After some rest and lots of fluids, I am fine. As an avid runner I know how important it is to fuel properly before an event, and should not have let myself get dehydrated.
I would like to thank the Chamber and University for sponsoring the forum, Denise Ruleau, and all in attendance. Also, I would like to thank the emergency medical personnel that responded so quickly. I regret we were not able to complete the candidate forum, and hope to answer your questions at a later date.
I may not always be able to stand up under the hot lights of the stage, but I will always stand up for the citizens of Marinette if elected mayor.

We are long time friends of Mary Berman Lock and support her in the campaign race for Mayor of Peshtigo. She consistently takes the lead in volunteering for various projects around Peshtigo to make it a better place for all citizens now and in the future. Mary is involved in Peshtigo Womans Club, Bands at Badger Concerts, Cans for Kids, the Peshtigo Historical Day Committee, the Riverside Cemetery Board, volunteering at nursing homes with various activities for the residents and much more.
Mary presently is serving her 3rd term as Alderperson with the Peshtigo City Council. When serving on the following committees: Finance and Claims, Judiciary, Parks and Recreation, Personnel, Peshtigo Oversight and Planning Committees she was fair, diplomatic, respectable and fiscally responsible. Mary is invested in the success of every one of the projects she is involved in and we believe she has the experience, knowledge and passion to be Mayor of Peshtigo.
Sincerely,
Debby Smith, Cindy Hagert,

Leave 10 Minutes Earlier
As I look back, a few things changed my life for the better. One was making To Do lists, that is Must Do, Could Do & Should Do lists, which, by the way, revolutionized the management of AT&T back in the 60s and 70s. Another thing that greatly influenced me was a plea from the commander of the missile base at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri when I was there.
Colonel Brendle was concerned about all the accidents and speeding tickets the airmen on the base were having (getting). He, of course, had to answer to his superiors for them, as we all had to answer to him. The Colonel made his plea like this, Just leave 10 minutes earlier to get where you are going. It was and is so simple. I got it and I tried it. Suddenly I was on time for everything and everybody. I gained a lot of favor. I lost a ton of anxiety, gained a lot of peace and, of course, speeding tickets virtually disappeared.
Last year I wrote Colonel George and his wife just before he died at age 91. I reminded him of his leave 10 minutes earlier advice. He wrote back, thanked me and added that still goes! Yes, it does, so I pass it on to anyone who listens.
One other big thing changed my life, and I will call it: Leave 10 minutes early for heaven. God says, Seek Me, and you will find Me, if you seek Me with all your heart. If you do, you will find the love and peace that Jesus brings all along lifes path getting to where you are going to. Youll lose some major anxiety too as you experience a life filled with much hope and heavenly understanding. As Jesus says, He who has ears to hear, let him hear. Leave 10 minutes early!

Letter to Editor:
Looking at the roads and infrastructure of Wisconsin, we need the federal transportation money. Our Congressman Ribble, who is a member of the Transportation Committee, recently voted for a bill that would cut funding for Wisconsin by 8%. The American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act of 2012, passed by the House, cut funding by $61.5 million! Ribble is supposed to be creating jobs, not cutting funding for jobs.
Reid Ribble is quoted as saying that this bill was a loser and even though he thought it was a bad bill he voted for it because thats what the Leadership wanted. So, instead of doing whats right for his constituents in northeast Wisconsin, he leaves us holding the bag. Is this a pattern?
It is time for a change and Jamie Wall is challenging Reid Ribble. I believe that he will work to get things accomplished because he has helped bring jobs to Wisconsin before. We certainly need jobs in Wisconsin. We are at the bottom of the list in job creation. I am all for helping Minnesota, Ohio, and Michigan, who did receive federal transportation money, but how about passing legislation that helps us all?

Town of Brazeau Residents:
What a tangled web he weaves, when Enix chooses to deceive.
Confusion rules throughout the land, when people attempt to understand.
Why truth is twisted to his needs, to conceal their own misdeeds.
Truth: 1. the true or actual state of a matter, 2. conformity with fact or reality. Who is telling the truth about the governing of the Town of Brazeau? Mr. Enix! His truth does not conform to reality. I think he is diverting attention from his own corrupt activities by attacking those who challenge him. No one challenges Mr. Enix.
The reason for the Recall of Town of Brazeau Supervisors Darrell Enix & James Hanna is based only on the activities of these two men since taking office in April 2011. Those reasons were published in an article, in this paper, on February 29, 2012. The reasons for recall were also referenced in Mike Luebkes letter to the editor on March 7, 2012. The former emergency service facility project has nothing to do with this drive to recall these men.
I would like to applaud Mr. Porior, Mr. Luebke and the other members of Concerned Citizens for the Town of Brazeau for their courage in revealing the truth about the activities of Mr. Enix and Mr. Hanna. I would also like to thank those fearless residents who have signed the recall petitions. They are not afraid of Mr. Enix or his supporter intimidations. In fact, his letters to the editor are welcomed. They reveal the truth about who Mr. Enix really is.
Pam Duddek,

To the Editor:
We now have two judges in Wisconsin striking down the Wisconsin Voter I.D. Law and the Federal DOJ going after the Voter I.D. law in Texas. In each case, the main reason they oppose Voter I.D. is because a certain group of people will be disenfranchised. If we look at the word disenfranchise, we find it means to deprive of a legal right. The Voter I.D. laws do not deprive anyone the right to vote. All it requires is the voter verify they are who they say they are.
Lets take this disenfranchisement claim and apply it to a 21-year-old woman buying beer at the liquor store. She has the legal right to purchase alcoholic beverages because she is at the legal age to do so. Before the purchase can be completed she is asked to show I.D. to verify she is at the age she claims to be and she is the person on the I.D. Using the logic of the Left, you must conclude the woman is being disenfranchised at the liquor store and the transaction must proceed without identification verification.
The only reason for objecting to a Voter I.D. Law is so the voter fraud of the past can continue. It is the only logical conclusion that can be drawn.
