Stewardship - person or persons entrusted with the management of the affairs of others. Those in critical positions in the public sector have the responsibility to manage the money given them by the taxpayers to support various public programs. This whole process has been going on for years without a lot of thought on the part of those who actually paid the bills. The result was a $3.6 billion deficit at the end of Governor Doyle’s term. A good share of this debt was the result of poor management of benefits programs. For example, in the private sector an additional $.30 for every dollar earned goes towards benefits and in the public sector an additional $.70 for every dollar earned goes for benefits. Quite a disparity between the two.

Not to hammer on school boards and city councils throughout the state but I don’t believe they have been aggressive enough to keep costs in line. I feel another problem is the international unions and their attempt to fill their coffers for their own salaries and support for their political agenda and to satisfy the “wants” and needs of its members. A lot of what is involved here is pure greed.

Enter Scott Walker - A man who ran for Governor who said he would get spending under control and avoid steep tax increases for those of us paying the bills. He, so far, is a little short on the 250,000 jobs in 4 years but I don’t believe that was what was promised. It was merely a goal and a goal that was stymied by the senate and the recall uncertainty. There has been a net increase in jobs and unemployment in WI is at 6.8%, the lowest it has been since 2008. And by all accounts he has turned out to be a true steward in the way the taxpayers’ money is managed.

Scott Walker was elected Governor of this state fair and square and has, in my opinion, done an outstanding job. And along the way a special interest group has decided they really don’t like what Governor Walker and others have done so recall them. Never mind the stewardship responsibility. The latest projection from the GAB on 5-4 is that the statewide recall primary will cost taxpayers 8 million dollars and an additional 8 million dollars for the general recall election. A total of 16 million dollars for recalls that could be spent in much better ways. Budgets are tight for cities and towns throughout the state and the last thing they need is this additional expense. Spending this amount of money in this way on a recall of folks who did nothing illegal should have the taxpayers of this state up in arms. The next election could take care of things with no additional cost. Just another example of spending our hard earned money on something someone or some special interest group wants, not needs.

The other thing that really has me ticked off about this recall is there is an attempt being made to take away my vote and your vote from the last election for no reason. If you don’t like the way things are going, vote in the next election to change things. You just don’t spend 16 million dollars, this is just insane.

Before we vote in June we have to ask, “Do we really want to go back to the way it was?” Do we want to go back to a point where stewardship of our money means nothing and spend, spend, spend means everything. I don’t feel we should and hopefully you won’t either.

Why is it people who don’t pay for services always have the most to say about things. There is NO attack on the Crivitz airport. Mr Gaibraith says the Town of Stephenson is indifference to the airport (WRONG, WE THE TAXPAYERS ARE THE ONES). Think what a waste of money when we have only one town resident that is using the airport.

Mr. Gailbraith said you can’t stand still but after 78 years I have learned that you just can’t keep putting money down a rat hole. Some time you must stop. If you don’t stop wasting money you will go broke.

As far as keeping up the airport the town crew was doing a fine job. The grass wasn’t cut every week but so what and the volunteer, that was something they asked to do the town didn’t asked them.

The Young Eagles was nice the first few times but now there aren’t many who attend so let it come to an end.

You also said FOCA had attempted to obtain hundreds of thousands of dollars. Well I read over some of the forms that were submitted. When FOCA said there were 2400 take-off and landings a year, there isn’t that many in five years. You don’t say that this year the town has to pay 2 1/2 % of what we get and next year it will be 5%.You said FOCA has gone into hibernation. Is that like the Governor’s race, if you don’t like the way we are doing things have a recall. FOCA will not do anything till something positive occurs.

You are right about the Town Board listening to the voters because if they don’t they will not be back. It is up to voters what this town does. When someone has a life threatening condition and a helicopter must come and get them they can land almost any place even in a road or on a field with 18 inches of grass.

The DNR doesn’t like our airport because it is too short but they still use it.

So, Mr. Gailbraith if you wish to pay towards our cost, mail a check to the town clerk and she would send you a letter so you could use it on your taxes. Thank you for the money and we the voters would give you a big “atta boy”. Other then that Iwould say STAY OUT OF OUR AFFAIRS

I would like to maintain but not improve the airport. The residents said the same thing by a 96 to 12 vote at the town meeting. If you had the 2400 take off and landings at $20 each we could do a lot at the airport and pay the 5% on the funds you would like to receive. How about when FOCA asked to leave the light on and FOCA would pay the bil. How many times have you paid it. Once I think. Sorry about the light bill but they finally pay it. I think we paid $80,000 to pave the runway a few years ago and last year played $12,500 for the cracks

Not an indifference taxpayer, just someone looking out for our taxes.

PS: At one of the meetings open to all the town residents the vote was 96 to 12 not to do any improvements to the airport. If you can find 85 more town resident who want more improvements to the airport bring them to a meeting, but make sure they are town residents.
