To the Editor:

I am writing this in response to a letter published last week by Supervisor Darrell Enix. In his letter he accused me of seeking legal advice from the newly hired Attorney Screnock and sticking the taxpayers with the bill. Perhaps Supervisor Enix should review the recording of the meeting when he made the motion to hire this attorney. In it you will find that I was the only member voting against wasting money on hiring an attorney from Madison to tell us what the District Attorney, Government Accountability Board and the Attorney General had already told us to do, set the recall.

In his letter he also suggests that I was responsible for delaying the recall. Perhaps he should review the facts. This matter was first brought before the board on May 18 at a special board meeting where Enix and Hanna voted to dismiss it because it did not pertain to them, only state officials. I opposed this motion. On June 13 and June 26 I made a motion to set the recall date, only to be met with silence when asking for a second. These are the facts as the minutes will show, unless the two supervisors decide to change the minutes to their liking, again.

What Supervisor Enix and Hanna are trying to avoid is a discussion about the facts on their record. The fifteen rules of conduct and decorum, severely limiting public comment and infringing on people’s freedom of speech. How about the infamous Tank Ln. or “road to nowhere” as Supervisor Enix has called it. He voted against the necessary plans by the county to fix the road for $12,000. His proposal submitted to the DNR, September 28, 2011, would have cost the taxpayers of Brazeau an additional $79,333.85. He sure likes his roads! How about spending? In less than two years he has taken the town’s $268,000 surplus and turned it into a $30,000 deficit. I wonder what he will do if he gets reelected. On Aug. 14 let’s make sure that doesn’t happen.

Don’t fear the Conversation

As children we were always told never discuss three topics: Politics, Religion and finances. If you look at the state of our nation there are three areas which are completely misunderstood: Politics, Religion and Finances. We have lost our ability to have a dialog - a meaningful, honest dialog.

I wish to discuss one topic - politics. A recent study conducted by CNBC showed the top states for job growth in America are led by Republican Governors. The report states - “Seven out of the 10 states featured in the top 10 have both Republican governors and legislatures. By contrast, within the bottom dwellers, six of 10 have Democrat monopolies on state government” It continues - “It is indisputable, however, that most of the top states that occupy the top of the list feature lower tax burdens, little union power, and bureaucratic regimes that are less inclined to get in the way of economic growth.”

This is not mere coincidence. Government regulation is killing jobs in every state in the union. Look to the recent mining bill that failed in Wisconsin. Government regulation, government oversight, government imposing its will on the people is killing the economic engine of capitalism and yes my friends - this is your Democrat Party platform.

Let’s look at Wisconsin. The last two years that Democrat Governor Jim Doyle was in office Wisconsin lost over 150,000 manufacturing jobs. Hundreds upon hundreds of business relocated or closed. This is fact, just look it up. The reason this happened? Burdensome tax and regulations imposed by the Democrats in power. Scott Walker inherited a $3.6 billion deficit and tactfully eliminated it. Yes, he had promised 250,000 jobs by the end of his first term but unfortunately for us, Wisconsin had been through almost two years of incivility, name calling and instability that would allow for job growth.

Beating drums in Madison. Disrupting the legislative process. Threatening legislators, Democrats fleeing the State, sit-ins, occupy movements, all this turmoil supported by the Democrats have caused for instability in the growth of our manufacturing sector.

Why? We have lost the ability to have a truthful conversation regarding the issues of today. The Party of JFK is dead. JFK was a leading advocate of economic growth by cutting taxes for the job producers. Did you know America has the highest corporate tax rate of the industrialized world?

“It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high and tax revenues are too low and the soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the rates now � Cutting taxes now is not to incur a budget deficit, but to achieve the more prosperous, expanding economy which can bring a budget surplus.” � John F. Kennedy, Nov. 20, 1962, President’s news conference. Compare this message with today’s Democrat platform of tax everything that moves.

Let’s get back to understanding the issues of today. Let’s not fear the conversation. There are numerous sources for news that were not available a few short years ago. Listen to those currently running for office and decide based upon your knowledge of the issues, not what someone tells you or what you see on the evening news programs. Challenge the status-quo because future generations depend on us.
