Eugene H. Weigelt
Eugene H. Weigelt, 89, of Mountain passed away at home on Thursday, Nov. 21 after a long battle with kidney disease and cancer.
Born Aug. 18, 1924 in Oshkosh to the late Herman and Lena (Radtke) Weigelt, he joined the United States Navy at the age of 19 and went to war during World War II as an armed guard on transport vessels. After his discharge, he moved to Fond du Lac to be on the farm with his parents. He married Beatrice Guldan on Aug. 7, 1948 and was employed at Waupun Correctional Institution, retiring in 1979 and then moved to Mountain.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice, of Mountain; two sons, Mark Weigelt, of Mountain and James (Darci) Weigelt, of Menominee; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Lois Weigelt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Susan Capsack and a brother, Gilbert.
Visitation was held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Monday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Paul Scheunemann officiated with burial in Mountain Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home assisted the family.
