THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Ruth Ann Kellner
Ruth Ann (Eva) (Nettleton) Kellner, 93, of Marquette, Mi., formerly of Menominee, Mi., passed away Dec. 8 at Norlite Nursing Center where she had resided for the past nine months.
Born Feb. 21, 1920, to Egbert and Eda (Whirry) Nettleton, she and her five siblings were raised by her father on the family dairy farm in Marinette after her mothers death. After graduation, she completed teacher's training and taught school for several years. She then moved to Milwaukee where she held various jobs. She married Vernon Kellner on Nov. 22, 1945 and they moved to Marquette in 1960 where they raised their family. Once her children were grown, she worked in the bookstore at Northern Michigan University in Marquette.
She is survived by her children: Cathy Ball, Port Charlotte, Fla.; Julie (Leonard) Parker, Marquette, Michael (Elissa) Kellner, Negaunee, Mi.; a son-in-law, Loren Ameen, Ishpeming, Mi.; four grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Freddie Kellner, of Greenfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Kellner; a daughter, Bobbi Ameen and son-in-law, J.C. Ball.
Visitaion was held at St. Michael Church on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 10 a.m. until noon, followed by the funeral service with Father Larry VanDamme officiating. A gathering of friends and family immediately followed the service in the Zyrd Parish Center.
