Shirley Mae (Walters) Champeau, 86, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Friday, June 14, 2019 in Green Bay.
Born Sept. 4, 1932 in Marinette, to the late Frank and Ethel (Peterson) Walters, she graduated from Marinette High School in 1950 and married Clifford Champeau on July 25, 1953 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Menominee.
In addition to caring for her own children, she also babysat other children. As her children grew, she worked as a cook at various restaurants and enjoyed camping, knitting, cooking and bingo.
She is survived by two sons, Terry (Kari) of Menominee and Mike (LeaAnn) of Alton, Va.; three daughters, Cheryl (John) LaCombe of Marinette and Wendy (Dan) Michalik and Brenda Champeau, both of Menominee; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one due in August; in-laws; a special friend, Rose Hoffman and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Clifford, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Leonard, Frank Jr., Kenneth and Roger and two sisters, Doris Walters and Lucille Harris.
Visitation was held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Monday, June 17 from 3 p.m. until time of the funeral services at 6 p.m., with Pastor Mark Laatsch officiating.
