Della (Wieting) Rakers, 94, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 in Green Bay.
She was married to Ray Rakers for 65 years and they lived a life surrounded by family and friends. In addition to her husband, her greatest love was time with her grandchildren whom brought her much joy. Her grandmother ways extended into her White Street neighborhood in Marinette.
Her youthfulness could be attributed to never thinking about "growing old" and her active life of gardening, walking, fishing, skiing, berry picking, baking and playing with children. She kept moving, unless playing a hand or two of 500 Rummy. She loved children and had a compassion for the lonely and sick. She never left anyone out and her life with her husband was simple and was an example to her children and grandchildren.
They had a good marriage and had trust in the Lord. She expressed her gratitude and delight daily in God's creations found in nature. She was known to be a bit stubborn, but had solid morals, grounded in the truth of Jesus Christ and balanced priorities and love of family.
She is survived by three children and their families, Brenda Rakers, Scott (Cathy) Rakers and Eric (Jean) Rakers; She was survived by 15 siblings; sisters, Lucille, Rosemary and Dolores; a brother, Lonnie and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Charles and Ida (Goldschmidt) Wieting, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ray Rakers.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 26 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Holy Family Parish, 2735 Taylor Street, Marinette from 10:30 a.m. until time of a Mass at noon. Memorials are appreciated to Our Lady of Lourdes " Holy Family Parish in Marinette. Thielen Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
