Robert C. Purvayn, 93, of Peshtigo, WI, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2019.
Bob was born to Charles and Charlotte (Klein) Purvayn in Chicago, IL on April 28, 1926. Bob graduated from Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago, IL, in 1944. He then served his country in the North Pacific during WWII.
Upon returning, Bob attended DePaul University in Chicago, IL, where he studied accounting. He spent 46 years in the corrugated packaging industry in Illinois and Wisconsin. He was the vice president of operations at M&M Container Division in Marinette, WI. After his retirement, he went back to work part-time in sales at Green Bay Packaging in Green Bay WI.
Bob married Sara F. Spencer in Chicago, IL, in December of 1949. Together, they had 4 children, Linda Galecke of Hartford, Wis., Robert (Cindy) Purvayn of Columbus, Mont., Nancy (Mark) Coffeen of Brighton, Mich. and Janet (Brad) Champion of Suamico, Wis. He is further survived by 3 grandchildren, Aimee (Brian) Zubowski, Chris Coffeen and Grace Champion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Anthony Galecke. In August of 1975, Bob married Marguerite (Cramer) Bourgeois. Marguerite preceded him in death in July of 2002.
Bob enjoyed fishing in Boulder Junction, WI and he was an accomplished accordion player. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marinette, WI; Wisconsin B.P.O.E Elks Lodge 1313; the American Legion Post 0146 and the Michigan V.F.W. USA Post 1887.
Pursuant to Bob's wishes, a private family service will be held with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo, WI. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family.
