Arlene A. (Zarling) Mitchell, 86, of Oconto Falls, formerly of Gillett, passed away Saturday evening, July 6, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Oconto Falls with family present.
Born July 3, 1933 in Gillett, to Reinhold and Anita (Wittenberg) Zarling, she grew up on the family farm and married Joseph Mitchell. They lived in Illinois before returning to Gillett to run the family farm. She worked at the Glove Factory in Gillett and the Shoe Factory in Pulaski for many years. She was a longtime member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett.
Survivors include a brother, Lony (Norma) Zarling, Brillion; two sisters, Dorothy (Melvin) Francois, Pembine and Caroline Wians, Gillett and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joe, two sisters, Grace Sutrick and Viola (Anthony) Szymanski, a brother-in-law, Lowell Wians and a special friend, Dave.
Visitation with the urn present will be held at Faith United Lutheran Church near Gillett on Thursday, July 11 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Pastor John Laatsch will officiate followed by burial in Saint John's Lutheran Cemetery in Gillett. Jones Funeral Service of Oconto Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
