Jerry I. Marquardt, 85, of Pembine, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019 in his home, surrounded by family.
Born Feb. 25, 1934 in Lena, the sixth of 13 children, to Arthur and Minnie (Behnke) Marquardt, he grew up on a farm there. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 and after an honorable discharge, married the former Patricia DeLaet. He raised his family and worked in the carpentry and ceramic tile business.
A 20 year member of the James Delaney American Legion Post 461 of Pembine, he served as Vice Commander, was active and proud of the work the American Legion Post did for their community.
An avid fisherman, he caught trophy fish and was a hunter, bagging trophy deer and moose. The couple enjoyed traveling and time in Alaska and Arizona, but especially time with family. He was always there for those in need and kept busy creating or building something, touched many lives and will be missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia; three children, Susan (Scott) Wallace, Karie (Brian) Czapanskiy and Allen (Susan) Marquardt; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Millie (Rollie) DeRosier, Marvin (Charmaine) Marquardt, Roger (Sharon) Marquardt, Russell (Darlene) Marquardt, Thomas (Helen) Marquardt, Joan (Roger) Cudnohufsky and Alfred Marquardt and many dear cousins and friends.
Among his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley and Nola and three brothers Harry, Arvid (Jim) and Marshall.
Visitation was held at Grace Lutheran Church in Pembine on Wednesday, July 10 from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral at 11 a.m., with Pastor Gene Wickman officiating. Full military honors were held at the Church with burial in Community Lutheran Cemetery in McAllister. Donations can be made in his memory to: James Delaney American Legion Post 461, PO Box 61, Pembine, Wi. Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee assisted the family with arrangements.
