THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Battle Blaze--Firefighters from five area departments battled a house fire in the Town of Peshtigo on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department received the call at approximately 11:30 a.m. The home is owned by Fawn and Paul Klaver. Town of Peshtigo Home Is Destroyed By Fire Tuesday

A Town of Peshtigo home owned by Fawn and Paul Klaver, W1755 Kamine Road, was destroyed by fire Tuesday, Sept.3. The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department received the alarm at approximately 11:29 a.m.
Assistant Fire Chief Rich Seils, immediatly called for a MABAS box alarm which brought in assistance from the City of Marinette, City of Peshtigo, Grover-Porterfield and Town of Little River Fire Departments. Upon arrival the first units reported the roof had already collapsed with the whole house engulfed in flames. Everyone was out of the house by the time firefighters arrived and the family lost all their possessions in the blaze. Three service dogs and some birds also perished in the fire.
The Klavers and their three young children lost everything. They are getting help from the Red Cross. Damage estimates are not complete but the blaze is estimated at over $100,000 in damage. No injuries were reported. Cause of the fire is under investigation by the Town of Peshtigo Fire Dept. according to Assistant Chief Seils. Firefighter remained on scene till approximately 4:15 in the afternoon. Other agencies responding for the fire include Aurora Bay Area Paramedics and the Emergency Rescue Squad.
