Large Crowd in Attendence Lena Lions 34th Dairy Fest
Issue Date: September 12, 2019
The Lena Lions Dairy Fest kicked off Saturday, Sept. 7th with a 5K run/walk followed by an hour-long parade featuring the Lena High School band, the Pulaski band and several veteran groups. The Lena Lions paid transportation costs and meals for the Pulaski band and thanks them for a great performance. The Pulaski band surprised the crowd with a short concert on the festival grounds after the parade. The Lena Lions also provided meals for the Lena band members who did a wonderful job representing their school and community. Many floats and entries promoted the areas dairy and community businesses as well as several clubs and organizations. The parade marshals this year were Dick and Dolly Gilles.
Grounds activities following the parade included a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, bouncers, balloons by Sidney, food venders, free ice cream, live music, and a truck and tractor pull. The event was cost free to the community.
Winners of the Lions 50/50 raffle also held at the Dairy Fest were Betty Wagner from Oconto ($500.00) and Sharon Pennington from Lena ($381.00).
The Lena Lions thank all the Lions members, clubs, vendors and sponsors who helped make this event a success. A special thanks goes out to the Oconto Sportsman's Club members who worked for the event. The Lions appreciate all who came out to enjoy the festivities.
