Harvey Carl Gardebrecht, 73, of Suring, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019.
Born Oct. 22, 1945 in Suring, to the late Elmer and Isabell (Massard) Gardebrecht, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On Oct. 21, 1967, he married Constance Wegner and worked at Friday Canning/ Chiquita Foods for 37 years.
Since 1988, he kept busy with his steer farm and cash cropping. He enjoyed deer camp and spent many hours building his dream pond at the farm, but mostly time hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. On Saturday nights, he loved watching Molly B and made anyone around, watch with him.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Connie; three children, Deborah (Steve) Reise, Kim (Scott) Scheer and Carrie (Wade) Kempka; six grandchildren; five siblings, Darlene Buhrandt, Judy Genke, Richard (Cheryl) Gardebrecht, Sue Druckrey (Bill) and Daniel (Teri) Gardebrecht; a special Godchild, Mike Gardebrecht and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Lawrence Buhrandt.
A Celebration of Life was held Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 at Romy's Holiday Inn at Kelly Lake from 10 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 12:30 p.m. with Military Honors. A memorial fund has been established. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home of Suring assisted the family with arrangements.
