Diane Alayne (Wiley) Smith, 80, a former resident of Marinette, passed away Saturday, Sept. 28 at Rennes Health Care Center-East in Peshtigo.
Born in 1939 in Battle Creek Mi., to Thomas Wiley and Elaine (Wiley) Balsis, she was the step-daughter to Joe Balsis and Marge Wiley.
She was a member of Calvary Church Assembly of God in Marinette and enjoyed meeting with her class of 1957 the last Wednesday of every month at local restaurants.
Her joy in life was any way she could serve her Lord, including a singing ministry starting in 1972. She also enjoyed the Choir, Christmas Cantata, Bible camp where she taught Children's Church and teens Bible study and was a member of Senior Saints, Women's Ministry and Bible study.
Survivors include four sons, Kevin (Mary Ann) Kakuk from Green Bay and Brian (Cindy) Kakuk, Rick Kakuk and Joe (Barbara) Kakuk, all from Menominee Mi.; a step-son, Rev. Ronald (Katherine) Oberle of Newberry Mi.; a step-daughter-in-law, Janet Smith; additional step-children, Chris and Morgan Matthews and Penny Smith; many grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Rich (Marilyn) Wiley and a sister, Sandie (Jerry) Konyn; nieces; nephews; special friends, Rev. Glenn and Eva Caron, Sandra and Charlie Langis, Jacquelyn Majerczyk and friends at Calvary Church Assembly of God in Marinette.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Wiley and Elaine (Wiley) Balsis; step-parents, Joseph Balsis and Marge Wiley; an infant grandson, Adam Kakuk and an uncle, Donald Kline.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Church, W1498 Hwy. 64, Marinette on Friday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. until the time of a Celebration of her new life at 11 a.m. with Rev. Timothy Hawthorne officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her name to be given to one of her favorite Church charities. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
