Joyce June (Powell) O'Brien, 95, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019.
Born April 24, 1924 in Menominee, to the late Henry and Ruth (Photenhauer) Powell, she graduated from Menominee High School in 1942. She married Joseph O'Brien on Oct. 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2003.
A member of the Community Covenant Church in Menominee, she also belonged to VFW Post 1887 Women's Auxiliary and worked at Boreol Glove Factory and the McCory's Store in Menominee for many years.
She enjoyed time with family, going to the Senior Center and playing cards with friends and family, but especially loved concerts at the Blesch Center and bus trips with the Senior Center.
She is survived by four children, Peggy O'Brien, Terry O'Brien and Tim O'Brien, all of Menominee, Mi. and Gary O'Brien of Green Bay; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Mary (Marty) Lorenzi of Waukesha and Doris (Chuck) Kohli of Mequon and other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband of over 56 years, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lois and four brothers, Gordon, James, Richard and Robert.
Visitation was held at Cadieu Funeral Home in Menominee on Monday, Oct. 14 from 1 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m., with Rev. Linnea Ek officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee next to her husband Joseph. Expressions can be directed to a charity of one's choice.
