74th Annual Potato Pancake Dinner Oct. 27

A Potato Pancake dinner will be held Oct. 27 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hayes, 4 miles west of Suring on St. Johns Rd. Serving will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Te annual potato pancake supper began in 1945, at St. John when the Ladies Aid decided to remodel their kitchen and needed a fundraiser, so the tradition continued to this day, missing only two years. The time has changed to noon and now the whole congregation is involved. Funds are used to promote parochial school, grades K-8.
Dinner includes all one can eat chicken booyah, potato pancakes with pure maple syrup, ham, cheese, applesauce, cranberries, buns, beverages and an assortment of bars and cookies for dessert. Carry outs are available. Cost is adults $9, children ages 6 to 10 are $5, and those under 5 are free.
A huge bazaar, craft and bake sale will also take place. Worship services are at 8:30 a.m.
