Joanne (Dishaw) (Poquette) Ruprecht, 86, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019 in Hermitage, Tn., surrounded by family.
Born June 1, 1933 in Marinette, to Edna and Grover Dishaw, she spent her childhood there, growing up with her sister Marjorie and brother Wayne. She graduated from Marinette High School in 1951 and met her first husband, Edward "Eddie" Poquette in 1952 at a dance at the Dome Ballroom. They married July 4, 1953 at Henes Park in Menominee, Mi. They had four children, Denise, Steven, Ronald and Larry and lived in Milwaukee before returning home in 1965 to live in Menominee where they raised their children close to family.
He passed away in 1990 and she later met John "Jack" Ruprecht. They were married Jan. 7, 1995 in Oconomowoc and lived in Geneseo, Ill. for a few years before moving to Belle Vista, Ark., where they thrived in a community of retirees.
She loved quilting and belonged to two quilting groups, Calico Cutups Quilting Guild and Quilts of Valor in Bella Vista, which provide warm quilts to deployed serviceman. Over the years, she made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren.
An avid reader, she also enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows with her husband and liked chilled Chardonnay.
She is survived by a brother, Wayne (Pat) Dishaw; a daughter, Denise (Robert "Bob") Withrow; three sons, Steven (Kay), Larry (Patti) and Ronald (Sharon); 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Kris Ruprecht and Linda Stanford and her two children and a step-son, Jon Ruprecht.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by both husbands, Eddie Poquette and Jack Ruprecht and a sister, Marjorie (Dishaw) McGuire.
Visitation will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1755 N. Calhoun Rd, Brookfield on Friday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m., followed by a Mass at noon. Donations can be made in her memory to the Spies Library Foundation, 940 First St., Menominee, Mi. 49858. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
