John R. Oleck, 87, of the Town of Brazeau, passed away peacefully at home Nov. 1, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was born to the late Robert and Minnie (Swenty) Oleck Nov. 5, 1931. He served in the United States Army for two years. He married the former Shirley Blazek Nov. 10, 1956 in Milwaukee. The couple operated the family farm for many years. He also was a milk hauler for Morning Glory until retiring in 1995. He had his private pilot's license and enjoyed flying with friends and family. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with family. He was a member of Safe Haven Community Church, Pound.
Surviving are three children, Perry (Correen) Oleck, Tim (Kathy) Oleck, Sherri Hodkiewicz; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Violet ONeil; four brothers, George, Donald, Oliver, and Richard; and a special friend Barb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley, two daughters, Lorri and Patti, four brothers, Robert, August, Elmer, Charles, five sisters, Bernice, Lorraine, Marian, Betty and Susan.
The family will greet relatives and friends Saturday, Nov. 9, at Safe Haven Community Church, N5238 Parkway Road, Pound from 9 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 AM with Pastor Mark Kostreva officiating. Military honors will be given by the Coleman American Legion at the church. He will be placed to rest at Hickory Cemetery. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman is assisting the family.
