Carol J. (Rabitoy) Louis, 79, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 at Aurora Medical Center, Bay Area in Marinette, surrounded by family.
Born April 5, 1940 in Gladstone, Mi., to the late Francis and Eva (Blair) Rabitoy, she graduated from Escanaba Holy Name High School in 1958 and received an LPN degree from Bay De Noc College in 1959. On Feb. 27, 1960, she married Wayne Louis in Gladstone and he preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2018. She worked at Menominee Hospital and later Marinette General Hospital.
In the 70s she took a break from nursing and became a real estate agent licensed in Michigan and Wisconsin for State Wide Real Estate. She returned to nursing in the early 80s and worked at various nursing homes in the area, finishing her career at Larson's Nursing Home, now Atrium Post-Acute Care of Menominee.
In younger years she enjoyed camping, boating, swimming, cooking and baking, especially time with family and loved writing poems and greeting card messages. In later years, she volunteered with the American Red Cross of Menominee and assisted with blood drives and also volunteered with the Bay Area Medical Center Auxiliary.
She spent many hours researching and helping people with paperwork to receive lower or free prescriptions or generic options. She also collected used hearing aids to give to people in need. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Menominee.
Survivors include four children, Terri Sue (Rick) Krause of Eau Claire, Kellie (Dale) Hartman and Gary (Sherri), both of Marinette and Mike (Becky) of Menominee; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with a great-grandson on the way; two sisters, Roberta Hartman and Sister Rita Mae Rabitoy; a brother, Richard (Shirley) Rabitoy; nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Rabitoy Jr. and a brother-in-law, Thomas Hartman.
Family received friends at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Menominee on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon. Pastor Mark Laatsch officiated with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Anderson Kell Funeral Home of Menominee assisted the family with arrangements. Donations can be made to the American Red Cross of Menominee in her name.
