Menominee Wins M&M Match Up; Coleman Downs Crivitz

Issue Date: January 9, 2020

Marinette Falls To Menominee in M & M match up

The Marinette Marines and the Menominee Maroons faced off last week for hardwood supremacy among the Tri-City area and it was the Menominee Maroons who were the victors 67-48.

This M&M game was all Menominee, but certainly not all the way as the Marines kept pace with the Maroons over the first half. At the end of that first frame the Marines were just behind the tough Maroons 25-21.

The second half was a whole different case though as the Maroons went wild to push themselves to that 19 point game ending lead.

Leading the Marines was Maye with 12 points and Polazzo with 12. Sommerfeldt posted eight while Poquette tagged on six.

Menominee's Keagan Monroe led all scorers with 27 points while Bellisle finished the evening with 19 points. Sartorelli added on seven.

Peshtigo Gets Solid Win Over Algoma

The Peshtigo Boys were hard to stop Friday evening when they took on the Algoma Wolves who they flattened by way of a 57-41 final verdict.

It was Peshtigo's night from start to finnish as the Bulldog scorers had little troubles finding their way to the hoop. Over the first half Peshtigo was able to propel themselves to a 34-25 lead going into the intermission.

The game then slowed down a bit over the second half. Peshtigo was able to produce another 23 points while buckling down on the defensive side to hold the Wolves at 16 second frame points.

Peshtigo was 11 of 21 at the line for the night for a 52 percent average. The Bulldogs also made two of their five three point attempts.

Algoma was lead by Carter Zimmerman with 21 points and Owen Robertson with seven.

Peshtigo was led by Cade Tackmier with 17 points and Landon Lemke with 13 points. Brendan Demmith added on eight during the game.

Oconto Trounces Gibraltar

The Oconto Blue Devils had little in the way of resistance last Monday evening as they fired away at the Gibraltar Vikings who they sent packing with a 85-45 final tally.

By the half Oconto had already taken most of what they needed to secure the win as the scoreboard read 49-21.

Oconto was led by Josh Woller with 27. Caleb Moe got 20 while Logan Allan and Luke Krueger both got 9 each.

Menominee Takes Solid Win Over North Central

The Menominee Maroons faced off against North Central last week and handed the boys from North Central a 62-59 loss.

Taking the initiative for the Maroons during the evenings match up was Keagan Monroe. The tough and accurate Maroons shot his way to a game leading 30 points.

At the half Menominee led on the scoreboard 31-25.

By games end Monroe had amassed those 30 points for top scoring honors while Bellisle followed up with 11 points. Menominee's Conway added five.

North Central was led by L. Gorzinski with 26 points and N. Gorzinski with 23 points.

Shiocton Shocks Crivitz with Big Loss

The Shiocton Wolves were a bit more than the Crivitz Wolvertines were able to handle as the Wolves ran all over the court for an 86-47 victory over the Wolverines.

Crivitz struggled from the get go to find some way of slowing down the Shiocton boys but were unable to find the answers they needed as the Wolves entered the halftime intermission ahead 56-20.

The Wolverines were led Gehm with 13 points. Chandler Kaldenberg got eight points and Jaden Werner finished with six.

Oconto Falls Drops Marinette

The Oconto Falls boys were a little too much for the Marinette Marines to handle Monday night as they fell to the home court Panthers with a 80-64 final tally.

Marinette was able to play a pretty hard fought first half, as the Panthers were just ahead at the first buzzer 33-28.

But a tough Panthers squad adjusted just enough to prop themselves to a 47-36 second half scoring readout which gave them all they needed to surmise their way to the win.

Leading the Marines was Palazzo with 28 points and Maye with 18 points and Sommerfeld with nine points.

Peshtigo Narrowly Defeats Gibraltar

The Peshtigo Bulldog boys were able to overcome a serious first half deficit to bag the win over there Vikings last Tuesday 52-50.

Though they came away with the win the Bulldogs aren't looking like the eventual victors over the first. In fact the Vikings quickly sprinted their way to a 27-18 lead at the intermission.

But a tough Bulldog squad under the direction of Head Coach Nate Motkowski made the proper adjustments over the intermission to return to the court for a much better second half.

By the final buzzer the Bulldogs had outscored the Vikings by way of a 34-23 second half scoring readout.

Cade Tackmier led all scorers during the night's match up, getting 19 points for his Bulldogs. Landon Lemke added up 12 points while Tanner Marquardt finished the game with eight. Muzak Salem chipped in seven.

The Vikings were led by Brady Ash with 12 points and Samuel Lindenberg who also posted 12 points. Dominic Krauel added on 10 points.

Coleman Slams Crivitz With Loss

The Coleman Cougar Boys were the victors in Tuesday nights home court match up with the visiting Wolverines of Crivitz. The Wolverines were unable to quell the rowdy Cougars who fought their way to a 66-43 victory.

It was pretty tight over the first half through as the Cougars held the small lead after one frame 25-22.

But a superlative second half by the Cougars, which saw them outscore the Wolverines 41-21, would give the Cougars a huge lead that the Wolverines were hard pressed to overcome.

Coleman's Nick Teteak was the man Tuesday night as he fired in 21 points to lead all scorers. Teammate Payton Nelson chipped in 17 points while Cayden Bintz rounded off the top three scorers for Coleman with seven points.

The Wolverines were led by Chandler Kaldenberg and Dawson Andrist who both posted 12 points each. Jade Werner and Trey Franzen both added up eight points each.
