Melissa "Missy" (Schaden) Peters, 41, of Lena, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 25, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer with her husband, Rick and family by her side.
Born Feb. 16, 1979, to Dick and Nancy (Kozloski) Schaden, she married Rick Peters on July 9, 2005 and they had two children who gave her the strength and courage to keep fighting her battle with cancer.
She worked at the Wabeno School District as a Physical Education teacher for 14 years until the time of her illness. Teaching was her passion, as was coaching softball for the Rebels, where she made everlasting friends and memories.
She is survived by her husband, Rick; her two children: Clay (10) and Macie (6); her mother, Nancy (John) Schaden; a brother, Kevin (Becky & Emmy) Schaden; a sister, Heather (Victor) Barron; a niece, Addi Barron; her grandparents, Richard and Dorothy Kozloski; her mother-in-law, Judy (Mike) McGuire; her father-in-law, Dan (Bev) Peters; a sister-in- law, Tracey (Sami) Awwad; her two Besties, Mel and Amy, along with her special Pointer Girls and uncles; aunts; cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dick Schaden; a nephew, Ethan Barron and great- grandmother, Adele Patenaude.
Private services were held. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home of Lena is assisting the family.
