Eugene J. Janquart, 89, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at home, surrounded by his wife and family.
Born Jan. 24, 1931 at his family's home in Menominee, to Irvie and Ruby Janquart, where he was a lifelong area resident, he married his high school sweetheart, Loyce Christianson, on Sept. 5, 1949 and they celebrated 70 years together.
He worked on the railroad for 34 years before retiring in 1992 and was known as an outstanding employee who set an exemplary standard regardless of the task. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and camping with family and friends, but especially loved the 15 years they wintered in Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Loyce; 11 children, Tim (Nancy), Terry (Linda), GayAnn (Jerry) Smith, Ted (Lisa), Tod (Alice), Joy (Paul) Fox, Cindy Gonzales (fiancé, Duane Uitenbroek), Trent (Jean), Pam (Chuck) Duvall and Lynn (Wayne) Wayrynen; a daughter-in-law, Sallie; 27 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Mary); a sister, Marylynn (Greg) Meyer; a sister-in-law, Nancy Nelson and many more extended family members and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas; a brother, Richard; a sister, Lois (Tony) Nerat; a sister-in-law, Pat (Barney) DeGroot and a brother-in-law, Donald Nelson.
Due to public health requirements, a private family service will be held with Fr. Brian Gerber officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family.
