Norma B. Cadieu, 96, formerly Norma Eileen Brase, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 after her 96th birthday.
Born April 30, 1924 at home, to Lydia Scheiwe and William John Brase in Crete, Ill., she was raised in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Crete and graduated in 1942 from Crete Community High School, attended Valparaiso University and excelled professionally in jobs at Honeywell, Inc., Abbott Labs and the Chicago consulting firm A.T. Kearney where she met Robert (Bob) V. Cadieu. They married on Jan. 10, 1976 and shared 43 years of marriage until his passing in 2019.
She loved visiting the Art Institute of Chicago, listening to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, camaraderie at GFWC Menominee Woman's Club meetings, golfing, playing the piano and was an active member at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menominee, where she served on the Altar Guild.
Survivors include two nieces, Pam (Terry) Wojciak and Cheryl L. Hoffman; a nephew, Gary R. (Cheryl) Cadieu; three great-nieces, Christy L. (Daniel) Dessart, Kimberly M. (Darrin) Kudwa and Calli Cadieu (Blake) Chouinard and a great-nephew, Casey Cadieu Hoffman.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Sheehan and Lorine Mayer.
In the interest of safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, a private funeral and burial was observed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Crete. Donations can be made in her honor to the Spies Library Foundation, Inc. or Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Menominee. Cadieu Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family with arrangements.
