Issue Date: May 20, 2020
Two people received injuries when their vehicle crashed into Erik's Gardens Center on Highway 41 between Marinette and Peshtigo early Wednesday morning. The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department responded to the call at 2:26 am. Firefighters were notified while enroute to the call that the vehicle stopped several feet from the residential portion of the building. The building is owned by Erik and Lynn Eskildsen, who were sleeping at the time. When contacted by the Peshtigo Times, Lynn at first thought there was an explosion but upon investigating found the vehicle and one person laying on the ground near the car. Firefighters had to use Jaws tools to remove one victim from the vehicle. Lynn stated the business is open as usual and that the building struck by the vehicle was destroyed along with a lot of plants and a UTV. Lynn said the vehicle must have hit in the middle of the parking lot and then went air borne into the greenhouse. The Marinette County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash. Emergency Rescue Squad along with Aurora Bay Area paramedics also responded. Names of the victims were not available at press time. Firefighters remained on scene until 4 am. Photo shows where the vehicle came to a stop in the building.
