Mary Catherine (Marek) Olson, 58, of Coleman, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 20, 1962 in Oconto, to LuLu Marek and the late Elwyen Marek, she worked at Unlimited, then Scott Paper, until employed by Green Bay Packaging Coated Products.
A love for life, she could make anyone feel comfortable with her caring and fun personality. She put her family before herself, making sure she was there for all important events in their lives. A devoted grandmother, she had a way of interacting with her grandchildren, knowing how to captivate their imagination.
She enjoyed biking, spending time at her family's cottage, kayaking, fishing, motorcycle riding, catching toads and loved all of God's creatures, but especially adored her dogs and horse and also cared for stray cats and possums. She was always doing crafts, sewing or making cheesecakes around the Holidays. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Oconto where she attended mass when she was able.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Bill "Bo" a daughter, Chynna (Kevin) Brochtrup, Green Bay; step-children, Derek (Lisa) Olson, Oconto Falls, Elizabeth (Klayton) Kindt, Sturgeon Bay and Darren (Jessica) Olson, Pound; mother, LuLu Marek; six grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Nick) Kleifgen, Wisconsin Rapids; two brothers, Steve (Ferry) Marek, Oconto and Jim (Cheryl) Marek, Madison and nieces; nephews and other relatives.
Family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Oconto on Saturday, July 11 from 9 a.m. until time of a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joel Sember officiating.
