Issue Date: September 30, 2020
The City of Peshtigo received word that a grant Mayor Cathi Malke had applied for in May from the State Stewardship, Federal Recreational Trails Program (RTP) and Federal Land & Water Conservation (LWCF) has been successful.
The grant was for the Ball Field Restroom Development project at one of the city's ball diamonds. The 2020 grant cycle was very competitive with 122 applications statewide, totaling over $24 million in grant requests, for approximately $6 million in available State Stewardship, $1.9 million in Federal Land and Water Conservation program funds and $1.2 million in Federal Recretional Trails Program funds.
A letter from Jessica Terrien, of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources stated the City's application for the Ball Field Restroom Development project has been tentatively selected to receive a grant in the amount of $59,348.50 from the Federal Land & Water Conservation program.
The money will be used to build bathrooms, concession stand and overhang at one of the ball parks. Total cost of the project is expected to be over $118,000. Peshtigo Girls Softball Association has pledged $35,000 for the project and the City of Peshtigo will also assist with some of the funding.
If anyone would like to volunteer their talents for construction of the restrooms and concession stand contact Peshtigo City Hall at 715-582-3041.
