
Ruth K. Upton,Issue Date: November 18, 2020 Ruth Karen (Palm) Upton, 67, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2020 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Fla., with family at her side.
Born Feb. 12, 1953 in Marinette, to Lewis and Esther (Nelson) Palm, she spent her early life in Marinette and graduated from Marinette High School in 1971. She married Jerry Konyn on Aug. 26, 1971 and moved to Wyoming where she lived for several years working on Dude Ranches. Upon returning to Marinette, she worked at Bay Area Medical Center until retiring in 1998.
She married Andrew Upton on July 18, 1988 and in later years while in Florida, she was self-employed in housekeeping at Bienville Plantation, a fishing destination and corporate retreat center in White Springs, Fla.
She loved her pets and collected palm trees and Scottie dogs. Very independent, she could accomplish anything she tried from crafts such as pine needle baskets, palm frond crafts, leather stamping, cross stitching and also big projects like building decks and barns. She had a lot of energy and always helped others. She loved watching Hallmark movies, had a sweet tooth and made the best pie crusts.
Survivors include a daughter, Shannon Berger of Daggett, Mi.; a granddaughter; a grandson; two brothers, James (Jan) Palm of White Springs, Fla. and Lewis (Birgit) Palm of Menominee, Mi.; a cousin, Susan Nelson of Marinette; best friend, Doris Brown of Thayer, Mo. and many other family members and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Upton.
Friends may call at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 2 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 3 p.m., with Pastor Linnea Ek of Community Covenant Church officiating.
