
Evelyn C. MironIssue Date: November 18, 2020 Evelyn C. Miron, 79, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 at Aurora Medical Center, Bay Area with family by her side. Born Oct. 31, 1941 in Marquette, Mi., to the late Leo and Margaret (Harder) Gauthier, she graduated from Bishop Baraga Catholic High School in 1961 and then graduated from St. Scholastica in Duluth, Mn., where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.
She found her passion in working with children with special needs and went on to complete her Master's Degree in Special Education at Northern Michigan University. She was a special education teacher for the children and families of the Menominee area for 31 years, retiring from Menominee Area Public School System in 1998.
On Aug. 8, 1964, she married Joseph Edward Miron and they spent 56 years together. They enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling and visiting with family and friends. She had many hobbies but especially loved working in her herb garden, growing and dehydrating herbs, working on puzzles and playing online word games.
She was especially fond of her grandchildren and loved their company. A longtime member of Resurrection Catholic Church, she was active in Choir for 35 years and volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul pantry where she developed many relationships. Known for her sense of humor, she loved to laugh and never forgot a special occasion of a family member. She was a devoted Catholic, wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Joe of Menominee, Mi.; four children, Michael (Theresa) of Springfield, Va., Stephen (Raquel) of St Johns, Fla., Kristine (Jon) Beard of Whitmore Lake, Mi. and Jason of Belleville, Mi. and six grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fr. Lawrence Gauthier and two sisters Mary and Janeen.
A private family visitation was held at Cadieu Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Resurrection Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Fr. Brian Gerber presiding. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette, Mi. on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul pantry.
