Lauretta Marie (Laskowski) Mayer, 91, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Tuesday, Nov.10, 2020.
Born Dec. 25, 1928 in Stevens Point, to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Sankey) Laskowski, she graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point. She married Marvin A. Mayer on Aug. 25, 1951 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2020.
Although they had no children of their own, they were blessed to call Jorge from Brazil, Reynaldo from Ecuador, Julissa and Elisa from the Dominican Republic their children of who lived with them while attending school and returned many times to renew friendships. They also have given them 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She supported her husband in many ways helping put him through school by tying flies and other jobs so that he could become a Teacher and later, a Principal. Together they were active in the community and loved camping, square dancing, playing cards and being with friends and family.
She enjoyed bowling, swimming, cooking meals and baking chocolate chip cookies for family and friends. Her favorite gesture was giving hugs to those she loved.
She is survived by two sons, Jorge and Reynaldo; two daughters, Julissa and Elisa; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special niece, Donna (Dennis) Shimeck; special friends, Jeff (Lori) Lemay and many nieces; nephews and special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Suchon and Germaine Tordrup and a brother, Robert Laskowski.
A private Memorial Service was held at Cadieu Funeral Home in Menominee with Rev. Scott Ehle officiating. Due to the current situation, an in-person Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced when it is safe to do so.
