Phillip "Phil, Lowall" Armstrong, 93, of Marinette passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 at Luther Manor after testing positive for COVID-19.
Born April 18, 1927, to the late Harold and Velzera (Litterll) Armstrong in Marinette, after his mother's passing, he was raised by his step-mother, Gertrude Armstrong. He worked on the family farm until serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. On April 24, 1948, he married Joan D. Kuhlman in Harmony and she preceded him in death on May 29, 2017. He worked at Scott Paper for over 30 years, retiring in 1989.
He enjoyed working his sawmill at his camp by Shakey Lakes, whittling wooden toys and was a master carver.
He is survived by a brother, Wayne (Nadine) Armstrong of Green Bay; sisters-in-law, Muriel Armstrong of Minnesota and Eloise Kuhlman of Marinette; nieces and nephews; special friend, Rosie Carviou and special friend at the Luther Manor, Dee Paugh.
In addition to his parents and wife, Joan, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Theron Trimble and Harold Armstrong, Jr. and four sisters, Lucille Lindberg, Virginia Pinkowski, Frances Smith and Joyce Hawkins.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Glenwood Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Thielen Funeral Home of Marinette assisted the family.
