Born Aug. 22, 1948 in West Bend, to Aloyisuis (Butch) Laufer and Leona (Ganns) Laufer, she graduated from West Bend High School in 1966 and attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Ia. and UW-Oshkosh. She later earned a C.N.A at Marinette Technical College. She married her childhood sweetheart, Allen (Butch) Schultz on Dec. 27, 1968 at Christ Lutheran Church in Jackson. They had five children and were together until their divorce in 1982.
Her youngest child was born and raised in her families', Laufer's Artistic Roller Rink. It is said she learned to skate before she could walk. She worked alongside her family in their many businesses and was proud of her family's accomplishments, including those of her nieces and nephews. She competed in figure skating with her siblings and many friends at the rink.
She enjoyed crafting and often gave away her creations to strangers and those she loved. She knitted and crocheted while dozing off after a long day worked. Understanding the need in healthcare, she donated blood. A colorful personality, those who knew her best understood and she was a giving person.
She opened her home to those in need, was willing to pick anyone up in the middle of the night, cooked many egg sandwiches for friends and family, started many bonfires welcoming those who enjoyed them too, stood at the fence line or in the bleachers at sporting events and attended dance recitals, plays, races and concerts.
She knew faces and contacts for her children's and grandchildren's friends and expected honest communication from her children. She raised her children with strong work ethics and support of volunteerism, celebrated birthdays and Christmas with a giving spirit, always lent a hand or hug, was happy to help and had a unique laugh.
Survivors include her five children, Naomi (Jeremy) Jones, Danielle (Scott Hannan) Bell, Rebecca (Mitch Marquardt) Schultz, Deborah Arbogast and David Schultz; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three sisters, Marilyn Laufer, Patricia Burg and Theresa Miller; a brother-in-law, Jerry Faber; a sister-in-law, Marlene Laufer; nieces; nephews and many friends and neighbors.
Among her parents, she was proceeded in death by three brothers, Alois "Junior" Laufer, Martin Laufer and David Laufer; three sisters, Carol Faber, Phyllis (Ed) Janke and Alice Laufer and a grandson, Isaac Jones.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Remembrance of Life Celebration will be held at a future date due to current Covid pandemic restrictions. Memorials and cards can be sent to N2535 Edgewood Drive Marinette, WI 54143. Cadieu Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family.
