Cougar Grapplers Crush the Competition at Bay Port Quad

Coleman swept their way through a tough Bay Port quad on Thursday, beating De Pere, Bay Port and Oconomowoc by significant margins.

Coleman beat Bay Port by a 52-16 score. Eight Cougars won live matches and two won by forfeit.

Cameron Kimmell (106) pinned Peyton Garcia in 4 minutes, 58 seconds, Raymond LeMieux (113) beat Owen Noel in a 7-3 decision, John Nowak (120) beat Nicholas Schomaker by 9-1 major decision, Chance Gruber (132) pinned Will Nast in four minutes flat, Will Bieber (138) pinned Colton Klimek in 3:55, Owen Kinziger (152) pinned Ayden Bruckner in 1:51, Peter Kuchta (160) pinned Jacob Ward in 3:46 and Spencer Karban (285) defeated Vaughn Campbell in a 3-0 decision.

Karson Casper (145) and Tyler Blanchard (170) won by forfeit for Coleman.

Coleman's four losses came when Carter Kallies (126) pinned Brady Gross in four minutes, Matt Grzybowski (182) beat Cole Klimek 3-1, Drake Anderson (220) beat Brody Zahn by 11-3 major decision and Trevor Nys beat Coby DenRuyter 12-5 at 195.

The Cougars defeated De Pere by a 69-11 score. Kimmell (106) pinned Malachi Oslund in 1:22, LeMieux (113) pinned Connor Schenian in 1:06, Gross (126) pinned Collin Hansen in 33 seconds, Casper pinned Brennan Kincade (145) in 50 seconds, Kinziger (152) pinned Peyton Cappelle in 2:57, Klimek (170) beat Daniel Fernandez by 8-2 decision, DenRuyter (195) pinned Caleb McAvoy in three minutes, Zahn (220) pinned Deven Tenor in 1:10 and Karban pinned Brody Upton in 2:53.

Chance Gruber (132), Will Bieber (138) and Peter Kuchta (160) won by forfeit for Coleman.

For De Pere, Shane Corrigan (120) beat John Nowak by 17-0 tech fall in 3:50 and Michael Alexander (182) pinned Blanchard in 5:15.

Finally, the Cougars made easy work of Oconomowoc, winning 67-12.

LeMieux (113) pinned Aeden Metcalf in 49 seconds, Gross (126) beat Holden Willett by 16-7 major decision, Gruber (132) pinned Ryan Gill in 2:59, Bieber (138) pinned Santo Alioto in 1:16, Casper (145) pinned Kaiden Bavuso in two minutes, Kinziger (152) pinned Frank Alcazar in 39 seconds, Kuchta (160) won by 6-5 decision over Ryan Van Ells, Klimek (182) pinned Jaden Dahms in 1:39, DenRuyter (195) pinned Taylor Nicholson in 3:30, Zahn (220) pinned Jacob Ducett in 1:11 and Karban (285) pinned Tyler Hanson in 34 seconds. Kimmell (106) was uncontested.

Coleman lost just two matches against their southeast Wisconsin opponents: Quintin Wolbert (120) pinned John Nowak in 3:51 and Lincoln Willett pinned Blanchard in 3:15.



Panther Matmen Maul Marines in NEC Action

The Oconto Falls Panthers have taken some lumps early in the 2020-21 wrestling season, but they outnumbered and outmatched the Marinette Marines on Thursday, getting a 57-10 win.

For Oconto Falls, Landon Budz (120) pinned Cole Vargo, Jaden Ganter (126) pinned Shayla Diaz, Dylan Thomson (145) pinned Ian Treptow, Trevor Schindel (160) pinned Domenic Paradiso and Clayton Whiting (182) pinned Dakota Cuff. Luke Trepanier (132) beat Isaiah Walker by 11-8 decision as well.

Marinette's 10 points came from a Josh Walker (152) major decision win over Jeremy Caldwell, 16-3, and a Owen Suennen (138) pin of Anthony Trevor.

A total of 24 points also came from forfeit wins. Winning by forfeit for Oconto Falls were Garrett Ganter (106), Graeson Pankratz (113), Zach Fonder (220) and Mitchell Kallies (285).

The 170 and 195-pound weight classes were double forfeits, with no wrestler from either team.



Blue Devils Drop Two

at Crandon Tri-Dual

The Oconto Blue Devils competed at the Crandon Triangular on Thursday.

Against Crandon, Oconto fell 70-6. Oconto got its six points on a forfeit from Owen Hansen in the 195-pound weight class.

There were only three live matches between the two, with Crandon getting all three wins. Caden Palubicki (152) beat Dominic Caylor by 13-2 major decision, Conner Lawrence (285) pinned Aiden Diaz in 19 seconds and Carter Bissonette (160) pinned Kyleigh Beekman in 29 seconds.

Crandon won by forfeit in nine weight classes.

Against Elcho, it was Hansen again going uncontested at 195 to get six points for Oconto. He was joined by Joey Mossakowski at 285, who also won by forfeit.

Oconto lost by a 24-12 score as a team. Elcho's Pete McCabe (152) pinned Caylor in 2:55 and Austin Blasius (160) pinned Beekman in 50 seconds. Elcho won by forfeit twice.



Bulldogs Compete at Wittenberg-Birnamwood Quad

Peshtigo took on Kewaunee and Wittenberg-Birnamwood at the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Quad on Thursday.

Peshtigo dropped a 42-30 match to Kewaunee and a 60-18 match to the hosts from W-B.

The Kewaunee loss wasn't one that can be pinned on talent, but rather numbers, however. Peshtigo won five of the six live matches, but Kewaunee was buoyed by six forfeits for 36 points.

Peshtigo's Reese Yunke pinned Gina Augustian in the 120-pound weight class, Ethan Brissette (126) beat Mitchell VanGoethem in a 10-7 decision, Brendan Conn (132) beat Issac Benz by pin and Connor Thomas (195) won against Jason Reinke by sudden victory, 8-6. Kody Klimek (285) pinned Jacob VanGoethem and Cole Sherman (106) won by forfeit for Peshtigo.

Kewaunee's lone live win came when Logan Steinhorst (152) pinned Kyle Rupert.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood wasn't carried by free wins, winning four of five live matches over Peshtigo: Pierson Potrykus (126) pinned Brissette in 56 seconds, Austin Worzalla (132) pinned Brendan Conn in 48 seconds, Wyatt Esker (152) pinned Rupert in 51 seconds and David Gauderman (285) pinned Klimek in 3:28. The hosts also won by forfeit on six occasions.

For Peshtigo, Yunke (120) and Sherman (106) won by forfeit and Thomas (195) pinned Jacob Tomlinson in 47 seconds.



Wildcat Grapplers Claim Three Wins at Home Quad

Lena hosted Crivitz / Florence / Niagara, Fox Valley Lutheran and Gillett / Suring on Thursday.

The hosting Wildcats took on all three opponents and picked up three team wins.

Against Crivitz / Florence / Niagara, Lena got a 51-30 win. For Lena, Jayden Belongia (113) pinned Skyler Johnson in 1 minute, 15 seconds. Ayden DeCoursin (138) pinned Leonard Hannah in 3:19, Jackson Dahin (195) won by 5-3 decision in O.T. over Isaiah Fennessy. Lena was helped by forfeit wins from Dylan Comins (106), Luke Misco (120), Kevin Chang (126), Sam Marquardt (132), Ayden Decoursin (138), Nathan Younger (160) and Frank Desjarles (285).

Crivitz/Florence/Niagara won three of the six live matches between the two teams, with Karson Bins (170) pinning Josh Kristoff in 1:47 and TJ Mueller (182) pinning Cody Dellise in 2:41. Andar Olson (152) pinned Lena's Franky Umentum in 2:51.Domenic Thoresen (145) and Kyle Guy (220) won by forfeit.

Lena beat FVL by a 56-12 score. For Lena, Dylan Comins (113) pinned Eli Stern in 3:27, Luke Misco (120) beat Jonah Gagnon by 18-2 tech fall, Kevin Chang (126) pinned Jonah Uhlenbrauch in 35 seconds, Ayden Decoursin (132) pinned Tristan Hagen in 2:22, Sam Marquardt (138) beat Blake Maxwell by 9-2 decision, Josh Kristoff (170) pinned Wilder Smith in 1:41, Cody Dellise (182) pinned Jackson Wolf in 3:08.

Franky Umentum (152), Nathan Younger (160) and Frank Desjarles (285) won by forfeit.

FVL's Pierce Krowas (195) pinned Lena's Jackson Dahin in 47 seconds and Sam Krause (220) won by forfeit.

Against Gillett/Suring, Lena won 69-6. Gillett/Suring's only six points came from Trent VanDenElzen pinning Nathan Younger at 160 in 3:28.

Lena's Sam Marquardt (138) beat Keegan Rattin by 15-0 tech fall and Franky Umentum (152) beat Carter Whisman by 9-0 major decision. Dylan Comins (106), Jayden Belongia (113), Luke Misco (120), Kevin Chang (126), Ayden Decoursin (132), Josh Kristoff (170), Cody Dellise (182), Jon Conine (195), Jackson Dahin (220) and Frank Desjarles (285) all won by forfeit.

Gillett/Suring was also beaten by Crivitz / Florence / Niagara 42-6. For Crivitz/Florence/Niagara Caitlyn Kelley (120), Dominic Thoresen (145), TJ Mueller (182), Kyle Guy (195), Skkyler Johnson (113), and Isaiah Fennessy (220) won by forfeit. Andar Olson (152) beat Carter Whisman by 6-1 decision and Karsen Bins (160) beat Trent VandenElzen 9-2.

For Gillett/Suring, Keegan Rattin got a pin in 2:27 over Leonard Hannah.

Crivitz/Florence/Niagara picked up its second win in three matches against FVL, 42-18.

For Crivitz / Florence /Niagara, Leonard Hannah (138) pinned Tristan Hagen in 1:39, Caitlyn Kelley (113) pinned Eli Stern in 1:19, Dominic Thoresen (145) pineed Blake Maxwell in 3:30, Karson Bins (170) pinned Wilder Smith in 4:18, TJ Mueller (182) pinned Jackson Wolf in 43 seconds and Kyle Guy (195) pinned Pierce Krowas in 3:15, and Andar Olson (152) won by forfeit.

For FVL Sam Krause (220) pinned Isaiah Fennessy in 55 seconds, and Jonah Gagnon (120) pinned Skyler Johnson in 49 seconds.

Fox Valley Lutheran stopped Gillett/Suring 48-16. For G/S Keegan Ratlin (138) pinned Blake Maxwell in 3:42, Trent VandenElzen (170) won by 14-2 major decision over Wilder Smith and Carter Whisman (152) picked up a forfeit win.
