Oconto hosted Marinette, Lena, Menominee Indian, Marinette, Goodman-Pembine, Suring, Wausaukee and Crivitz for a cross country invite on Tuesday.

The boys' race had 40 total runners and five complete teams.

Menominee Indian was first as a team, with an average time of 20:09.67.

Oconto took second with an average counting score of 20:11.59. Oconto's top five runners were Kadin Baxter in fifth (18:48.54), Jackson Martin in 11th (20:02.53), Tyler Beekman and Braden Shallow in 23rd and 24th, respectively, (21:41.72, 21:42.19) and Daniel Alwin in 26th (22:04.23).

It was Demmith's first run back from injury, but he said he's feeling good. He even thinks he could have been faster.

"It felt pretty good, breathing was just a little different because I haven't been training as hard as normal. I'm just trying to get some miles in," Demmith said. "I feel like I could have gone a little faster, sooner at the end. I had a lot of energy left at the finish line."

"He really crushed it today. I'm really happy with it," first-year Crivitz coach Bryan Anderson said. "Seeing him lead the pack the entire race and then being able to maintain that without anyone pushing him was really fantastic."
