Ruth Lindsay

Issue Date: December 30, 2021

Ruth (Kunick) Lindsay, 77, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021.

Born Nov. 17, 1944 in Marinette, to Walter and Pearl Kunick, in 1965, she went on a blind date to a Packer game. She ended up marrying him, B. Michael Lindsay, in August of 1966 and he preceded her in death in 1994. They raised their family in Hartland and she later moved to Green Bay in 1997.

A dedicated mother, she treasured her children and embraced every moment with them, but especially loved being a Grandma. She had a generous personality, always made people feel welcome, showed gestures of kindness, sent many sweets home after a visit and tucked a 20 dollar bill in your pocket "to cover your gas".

She was independent, overcame many challenges, survived brain tumor surgery, which left her confined to a wheelchair and with full left-side paralysis, she was diligent about walking and exercising daily and was able to maintain her own home for almost 20 years.

Her brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Deb helped her remain independent so she could stay in her home. She played a good game of Scrabble, cards or did word search puzzles and was known to make a good bowl of "pink fluff" or lemon bars.

An avid Packer fan, she made phone calls to remind relatives of an upcoming game or to talk about the outcome. Yelling, cheering and sometimes swearing at the TV were par for the course. After moving into assisted living, she refused to be a "fuddy duddy", and now is enjoying front row seats on the 50-yard line with her husband for many years to come.

Her daughter took care of her Mom, visited her regularly and provided comfort and quality of life for her.

Survivors include a son, Tim (Laura Aschenbrenner) Lindsay; two daughters, Lisa (Matt) Stephan and Mikelyn Lindsay; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Craig (known as Butch) (Debbie) Kunick and Russ (Chris) Kunick; a sister, Joyce Collier and many nieces; nephews; friends; neighbors and extended family.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; in-laws, Frank and Mae; dear friends, Marilyn Knopp, Danny and Donna Scherer and brothers-in-law, Bill and Jack Lindsay and Dave Collier.

Visitation will be held at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette on Thursday, Dec. 30 from 11 a.m until time of a Celebration of Life Service at noon, followed by a luncheon. In honor of her love for the Green Bay Packers, the family is asking to fill the place with green and gold Packer attire!
