A law enforcement memorial service was held at the UW-Theater in Marinette on Tuesday, May 11. Officers and deputies from the Marinette County Sheriff's and Marine Police Departments participated in the service.

Presentation of Colors was by the Honor Guard consisting of members Marinette County Sheriff's Department and Marinette Police Department. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Lt. Oconto County Breakfast on the Farm is June 13th

The Oconto County Breakfast on the Farm Committee invites the public to celebrate June Dairy Month by attending Breakfast on the Farm. The 2021 Oconto County Breakfast on the Farm will be held Sunday, June 13, at Alsteen Farms, LLC located near of Lena. A sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. lead by Bishop Ricken with breakfast served from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Entertainment will be available for all ages, including live music, antique demonstrations and kids' activities. Breakfast tickets are $8 for all ages with generous portions...

Aquila Withdraws From Wetland Fight; Studies New Mine Permit

Plans by Aquila Resources to construct its controversial open pit "Back 40 Mine" on the banks of the Menominee River near Stephenson, Mich. are in the process of being changed. A news release issued on Tuesday, May 11 announced that Aquila has withdrawn its appeal of a judicial decision rejecting its wetlands permit and has engaged consultants to look at a new plan that would incorporate an underground mine and reduce the size of the initially proposed 750-foot deep open pit mine.

May 15 Is Coleman Spring Clean-Up Day

After a brief closed session at its monthly meeting on Monday, May 10, Coleman Village Board accepted the resignation/retirement of Aaron Patefield from his long-time position as Public Utility Supervisor for the village. Patefield has been a Coleman employee for 25 years, and has been in charge of operating the water and sewer utilities. His last day on the job will be Thursday, May 20.

The Peshtigo Riverside Cemetery meeting on Monday, May 10 began with President Mike Swiatnicki commenting on how nice the cemetery looks for this time of year. With assistance from Mother Nature with the nicer weather we had this spring, work at the cemetery was started earlier than other years.
