Redbirds Secure Hard Fought Win Over Cecil

The Marinette Redbirds may find themselves behind from time to time but never counted out, as was n display last Sunday when they took the Mudhens of Cecil. After nine innings the Redbirds had taken the match 5-4.
The Mudhens were the first to scratch up a run, doing so in the first off an error that gave a Cecil baserunner the opening he needed to cruise home.
It took Marinette a minute or two to responded doing so not until the top of the fifth with a three run push. Riley Hegg hit an RBI single that brought Austin Belonga to the plate. Riley Reif followed with a double while Jordan Powers smashed a two RBI single for a 3-1 Redbird lead.
Sheboygan attacked the lead in the bottom half of the inning with one run and took the lead in the sixth with another run giving them the 4-3 lead.
Marinette wasn't going to call it quits though as Jason Hofer cruised home thanks to a Scott Eldridge double to tie the game at 4-4.
With two outs in the ninth Marinette's Riely Reif reached first. With Reif ready to take the lead Powers gave him the shot he needed as he slapped a single giving Reif the plate and the 5-4 lead.
After holding the Cecil hitters in order the Marinette guys bagged the win.
Belonga took the pitching win for Marinette allowing just a single hit and single run while walking no one striking out one over his three innings.
At the plate Powers was two of five with three RBIs, Reif went one of four with two runs, Hegg was one of four with a run and a RBI.
