Gillett/Peshtigo Hold 2nd Place Conference Spots

Crivitz Falls to Gillett

The Crivitz Wolverine girls took a hard loss to the powerful Gillett Tigers last Thursday as they fired off a 50-44 victory on their home court.

The Tigers saw the Wolverines take the initiative in this match up as the girls from Crivitz held the slight edge at the half 18-16. But a well coached Tiger squad was able to find the openings they needed over the second half as the Wolverines fell behind a 34-26 second half tally.

The Tigers were led by Aubrey DeBauch and Karissa Schaal who both powered their ways to 14 point read outs.

Chloe Gruszynski led the way for the Wolverines with 18 points while Emalee Johnsen got 13 points.



Coleman Takes Down Lena

The Coleman Cougar girls bagged a 58-28 win over the hosting Lena Wildcats Thursday night.

The win saw the Cougars get way out ahead over the first half with 23 points to the Wildcats 14.

By games end the Cougars were led by Cameron Compe who fired in 12 points. She was followed by Aubrey Bintz with eight points and Maddy Hoida with six.

Lena was led by Kennedy Marquardt with nine points and Chaela Rabas with nine points as well.



Niagara Beats STAA

The Niagara Badgers girls basketball squad found themselves way out ahead in their match up with the St. Thomas Aquinas Cavaliers Friday night in Niagara.

It didn't take long for the Badgers to start to exert their dominance on the court as Jessica Oratch powered her team to a 31-21 first half lead with her 16 point first half effort.

With another 30 points scored by the Badgers over the second half the St. Thomas girls struggled to find a way to increase their scoring rate.

Lianna Baxter posted 16 points to lead the Cavaliers. Addison Pristelski posted 14 points while Livia Benson followed up with nine points.

Oratch and Alyssa Cretton were the games top scorers with 25 points fa piece or the Niagara girls. Jada Maki posted four points.



Gillett Keeps Conference Win Streak Alive With Win Over Wausaukee

The very tough Gillett Tigers bagged another important M&O Conference win last Monday night in Wausaukee when they defeated the Wausaukee Rangers by way of a 52-46 final score.

Wausaukee by no means had a bad first half. They were able to fight to a nice 25 point readout which was keyed in by Madelyn Schlies with her 10 point effort. But a fast striking attack by the Tigers overshadowed what would have been normally a great start. They did this with a 32 point first half total which was built upon a great effort from multiple Tigers over the first.

By games end the Tigers were led by Sydney Young with 14 points and Aubrey DeBauch and Karissa Schaal with 11 points each.

M. Schlies was the evenings top scorer with 17 points for the Rangers. Teammates Rachel Schlies and Kaelyn Schlies both posted nine points each.



Oneida Nation Stays on Top With Win Over Coleman

The Oneida Nation Thunderhawk girls, who are currently in the lead in the M&O conference, kept that lead with a nice 59-24 win over the hosting Coleman Cougars Monday night.

After one half of play the game was pretty much already in the bin as the Thunderhawks found themselves way out ahead 31-13.

Maria Jacobs was the games top scorer with 19 points for the Thunderhawks. Sadie Schumann chipped in 11 points while M'Kenzey Ackley added up 14.

Coleman was led by the efforts of Cameron Compe who got seven points on the night. Michael Zeitler posted five points while Hailey Ziemer chipped in four.



Crivitz Gets Back on Track with Win Over Lena

The Crivitz Wolverines got a much needed conference win Last Tuesday night when they took down the visiting Lena Wildcats 67-17.

The huge win was highlighted by an overwhelming start by the Wolverines. During the first half Chloe Gruszynski fired away and came out of the half with 16 points.

By games end Gruszynski was the games top scorer with 26 points. Her Teammate Emalee Johnsen added up 11 points while Sianna Guns chipped in 10 points.

Lena was led by Kennedy Marquardt with 11 points. Lilia Shallow got three while Chaela Rabas chipped in two.



Marinette Falls in High Scoring Shootout

The Marinette Marine girls had a shootout on their hands last week when they took on Luxemburg-Casco who came away the eventual victors but not until both team amassed massive scores. L-C won the match 84-71.

It was high scoring from start to finish as the two team found themselves relatively close after the first half 46-38.

After the second half was in the books the Marines saw their Katelyn Kitzinger have one of the best nights of play she has ever had, finishing the game with an overwhelming 37 points to her name. Teammate Pieper posted 10 points while Chenier got eight.

L-C was led by Adams with 25 points and Flynn with 16. Dart ended the night with 14 points.



Wausaukee Takes Non-Conference Win Over Elcho

The Wausaukee Ranger girls took a solid non-conferrence win Tuesday night when they took down the hosting Elcho Hornets 62-48.

The momentum boosting win was a pretty tight game from start to finish. The Rangers were however able to control a small lead going into the half as they took the 29-27 lead.

Over the opening minutes Wausaukee's Steph Murray kept the scores coming, ending the half with 11 points while teammate Madelyn Schlies bolstered the lead with her eight points.

Kaelyn Schlies helped to open up the game a bit over the second half with a 12 point effort.

Murray would eventually end the game as the lead scorer for Wausaukee with 20 points. K. Schlies posted 17 on the night while M. Schlies finished with nine.

Elcho was led by Katie Slowik with 22 points and Erica Manka with 12 points. Ellie Ansbach got nine.



Peshtigo Bags Win Over NEW Lutheran

The Peshtigo Bulldog girls took home the win last week against the NEW Lutheran Blazers who they set down with a 44-25 final verdict.

New Luthern struggled from the start, and were unable to recover from the staggering blow the Bulldogs delivered over the first half.

During that first half the Bulldogs fired in 20 points while stopping the Blazers short of double digits with a mere nine points.

At games end the Bulldogs' Sydney Lund had posted a team leading 10 points while Detry posted nine. Gilligan got eight on the night.

NEW Lutheran was led by Zimmer with six points and Nelson with five.



Peshtigo gets Slammed by Kewaunee

The Peshtigo girls basketball squad took a hard loss to the Kewaunee Storm last Friday evening when the Storm smashed their way through the Bulldogs with a 44-28 final tally.

The loss saw the Bulldogs' Sydney Lund lead the way with 10 points. Mikennah Reek chipped in eight while Emma Gilligan got six points.

The Storm's Mal Tlachac got 23 points while Hailey Daedtke posted six.
