Marinette Girls Finish Third at NEC Multi Meet
In what won't come as a huge surprise, Freedom dominated the Luxemburg-Casco Spartan Meet on Friday afternoon.
Freedom had the top four runners in the girls' race and five of the top six runners in the boys' race.
In the boys' race, Oconto Falls had the one top-six runner that wasn't wearing Freedom colors, with Joe Adams taking second place (17:42.02). Also for the Panthers, Braden Uelman was 14th (19:53.79), Grant Yuma was 23rd (20:44.41), Aiden Stary took 31st (21:59.03) and Damien Reed was 42nd (23:27.12).
Marinette had two boys in the race. Alec Queever took 13th (19:52.29) and Rodney Hollar was 54th (28:31.12).
Oconto Falls' Hannah Ludemann was sixth of 48 runners (22:19.92), with Oconto Falls taking fourth of four teams. Maddy Przybylski was 20th (24:53.99), Alexis Euclide took 21st (25:08.47), Sydney Bell was 23rd (25:21.24), Helen Marquardt took 34th (27:48.29), Aspen Canavera was 37th (28:42.19) and Jaden Reed was 38th (28:47.23).
The Marinette girls were third of four teams. Hadley Reines was ninth (22:40.31), Molly Knutson took 16th (23:53.77), Ava Dahlman was 17th (24:00.11), Samantha Pieper took 22nd (25:08.84) and Maya Carviou came in 28th (25:37.52).
Freedom runners claimed the top spot in both varsity races. Tyson Lonigro won the boys race in 17:40 and Gwen Hinz claimed the girls crown with a time of 20:42.
Bulldog and Blue Devil Runners Compete at Sevastopol
Oconto and Peshtigo competed at the Sevastopol cross country meet, which was won by the hosts.
Peshtigo did not have a full girls or boys' team, or the Bulldogs would have made a case for winning the team event. Peshtigo had the top three boys in the race of 20 runners, with Caleb Smith (17:56) in first place, Andrew Nelson taking second (18:09) and Logan Smith placing third (18:18). Caleb Grabain was 15th for Peshtigo (21:54).
For the Bulldog girls, Sydney Lund was second of 21 runners (21:04) and Emily Halfman was fourth (23:10). They were the only two runners in the race.
Oconto was one point off Sevastopol in second as a boys team. Leading the top five runners for Oconto was Josh Woller, who took fifth (19:01). Josh Maynard was sixth (19:08), Kadin Baxter took ninth (19:33), Braden Shallow was 10th (20:20) and Braden Shallow came in 13th (21:34).
For the Oconto girls, Jenessa Schneider took seventh (24:47), Josie Mireles was ninth (25:31), Elizabeth Finger was 11th (26:11), Ellie Finger took 13th (27:18) and Brooklyn Rasmussen wrapped up the Oconto top five in 14th (28:33).
