Peshtigo's Soccer Hot Streak Continues With Two More Victories
Issue Date: October 21, 2020
Peshtigo defeated NEW Lutheran over the weekend by a commanding 6-1 score, leading early on and never looking back.
Adam Bauman scored in the opening minutes on a pass from Jonny Conn, adding his second goal halfway through the first half on a corner kick from Grant Bauman.
Conn scored two of his own in the first half, with Adam Bauman returning his earlier assist for one and one goal unassisted. Brenden Conn scored in the second half off an assist from Collin Engman, who scored his first goal of the season late in the second half.
With many of the team's players assisting each other and also scoring in the game, it was a team effort for Peshtigo.
"The team's dynamic and the trust they all have for one each other is a huge contributing factor to their success," Peshtigo coach Joe Denny said. "Every game is a complete team effort."
Denny also credited his defense with strong work, including Mauz Salem and Landon Lemke. Seth Davis made six saves in the game.
The Bulldogs beat Luxemburg-Casco by a 3-1 score Tuesday behind what Denny called "one of our best performances against a very quick and skilled opponent."
Ryan VanVooren headed in the first goal of the game off a corner kick from Grant Bauman, but the teams went into half tied up after a L-C goal halfway through the first period.
Johnny Conn made it 2-1 in the second and Adam Bauman got the team's third on an assist from McMahon.
"Our defense continues to be a dominant factor," Denny said. "It's great having depth on the bench. All of these players go out and give 100% when given the opportunity."
